Localization

Keywords do not travel between language slots. A word you wrote in the Turkish slot does not enter the English slot's searches — but one storefront can index several slots. So an empty slot is a measurable loss, and almost no tool puts a number on it.

In measured numbers

0keywords carried between language slots

Every figure on this page is read from a code path, not written by hand — the same discipline the product applies to your own data.

What gets measured

SignalWhere it comes fromWhat it answers
Slot occupancyYour listing, read per language slotWhich slots are written and which are empty
Characters an empty slot would openField limits × unwritten slotsWhat the gap is worth, in characters you could target
Countries per slotApple's storefront-to-language defaultsWhich markets an empty slot is costing you
Screenshot localizationScreenshot fingerprints per storefrontHow many countries are served the identical image set
Rank across storefrontsThe same keyword measured in each countryWhether a translation actually changed anything
Screenshot coverage is measured by fingerprint, not by filename. Two storefronts serving the same set are shown as one untouched market — which is usually a much larger number than teams expect.

How it works

  1. Every storefront you track is read separately. The same app is a different listing in each one, and the differences are the point.
  2. Slots are mapped to countries. A slot is not a country: one language slot can be the default for many storefronts, which is what makes an empty one expensive.
  3. Screenshots are fingerprinted per storefront so "localized" means the images actually differ, not that the field exists.
  4. The same keyword is compared across countries, so after you translate you can see whether the rank moved in the market the translation was for.

What you do with it

Count what an empty slot costs

Unwritten slots have a character value and a country list; both are measurable, and almost nobody measures them.

Check the images, not the checkbox

Screenshots are compared by fingerprint, so “localized” means the set actually differs.

Prove the translation worked

The same keyword measured in each country tells you whether the market you translated for moved.

What this does not do

What we do not grade

We measure which slot is empty. We do not score your copy.

A machine grade on someone's translation is an opinion wearing a number. What we report is structural and checkable:

  • We do not translate. The audit says which slot is empty and which countries it would reach; writing it stays yours.
  • We do not grade translation quality. There is no score for wording, because we have no way to measure one.
  • “Localized” means the images differ. Screenshot sets are compared by fingerprint, not by whether the field exists.

We do not translate anything, and we do not score translation quality — a machine grade on someone's copy is an opinion, not a measurement. What we measure is structural: which slot is empty, which countries it covers, whether the images differ, and what the rank did afterwards.

Frequently asked

Do keywords carry over between language slots?

No. A word in one slot does not enter another slot's searches. That is the whole reason an empty slot has a cost you can count.

Is a language slot the same as a country?

No. One slot can be the default for many storefronts, which is why the screen lists the countries under each slot rather than the other way round.

How do you know whether screenshots are localized?

We fingerprint the image set per storefront. If two countries are served the identical set, they are counted as one untouched market.

Do you translate my listing?

No. We measure which slots are empty and what they would reach; writing them stays yours.
