Where do you rank for this keyword?

Enter an App Store or Google Play link and a keyword, and we'll show where your app comes up today in store search for the storefront you pick. No signup.

Store

The store page link, or the number at the end of it.

The search a user types into the store, 2 to 60 characters.

On the App Store we look at up to 200 results Apple returns.

Result

Enter the link and keyword, then check; the result shows up here.

How the rank is measured

  • On the App Store we send your keyword, the storefront you picked and that storefront's language to Apple's public search and ask for up to 200 results. On Google Play we open the same keyword on Play's public search page in that storefront's language; that page shows the first ~30 results.
  • Your position in that list is your rank. If you are not in it we say "measured, not in the first N", where N is the number of results the store showed at that moment.
  • If Apple or Google doesn't answer (a block page, a timeout), the result is "not measured". We never count a missing answer as a lost rank.
  • In the dashboard the same measurement repeats every day for all your keywords, and the history is kept.

The link and keyword are used only for the measurement, and the result is cached for 6 hours. Your IP address is not stored: a one-way hash is kept for the daily allowance and deleted within 2 days.

This is one keyword at one moment. The dashboard measures all your keywords every day and shows the apps above you and whether the term is actually searched.

Common questions

Where does this tool get the rank from?

On the App Store we call Apple's public search with your keyword, storefront and its language; on Google Play we open the same keyword on Play's public search page. Either way we count your app's position in the list. The dashboard's daily App Store measurement uses the same request.

Why do I see a different rank on my phone?

If your phone is signed in to another country's store, the list is different. Results can also change during the day; the tool shows the rank at the moment of measurement and prints when that was.

What does "not in the first N" mean?

The measurement ran, but your app is not in the list the store returned for that search. That is different from "not measured", where the store didn't answer; we show the two separately.

Can I check Google Play ranks too?

Yes, to a limited depth. Google Play has no official search API, and its public search page shows only the first ~30 results. If your app isn't there we say "not in the first 30" and don't guess a deeper position. Play search results don't show rating counts, so we don't show them for Play either.

How many times a day can I use it?

20 checks a day without signing up. If the same app, keyword and storefront are asked again within 6 hours, we answer from the earlier measurement and it doesn't use up a check.
