Keyword cannibalization

Keyword cannibalization is when two things you control — two content pages, or a localized store listing and its default-language sibling — target the same search term and end up competing with each other for the same click instead of each owning a distinct one.

The clearest case is a brand-name search returning two of your own store listings or web pages in different languages: impressions split between them, and a searcher who only sees one of the two might not click at all — 0 clicks on a well-ranked page is a real symptom, not just a coincidence.

The fix isn't always removing a page — a Turkish and an English page can both rank for a brand term without harm if each is clearly the local audience's version. It becomes a problem specifically when neither converts.
