Install sources

Rank tracking tells you what position you hold. It cannot tell you what that position was worth. Only the store's own funnel closes that gap — how many impressions the rank produced, and how many of them became installs.

Every figure on this page is read from a code path, not written by hand — the same discipline the product applies to your own data.

What gets measured

StepWhat it isWhy it matters
ImpressionsHow often your app was shown at allThe volume behind a rank; a rank with no impressions is a rank in a term nobody searches
Product page viewsHow many of those impressions became a visitYour icon, name and first screenshot are doing this work
InstallsHow many visits became downloadsEverything else on the page is doing this work
Source breakdownSearch · browse · app referrer · web referrerWhether your growth is ASO at all, or somebody else's traffic
Play search termsThe terms that brought visitors on Google PlayPlay's own acquisition report, where you connect it
This is the only part of the product that needs a store connection. Everything else — rank, rivals, demand, reviews, charts — is read from public surfaces without credentials.

How it works

  1. You connect App Store Connect yourself. A Sales and Reports key is enough for the ongoing reads.
  2. A report request is opened once and then refreshed on a schedule; after that the same key keeps downloading it.
  3. The funnel is joined to your own measurements, so "rank improved, installs did not" becomes a question you can actually look at.
  4. Play's acquisition report is read separately where that connection exists, because the two stores do not report the same shape.
Two honesty notes the screen carries: the first request for a report type needs an Admin role, so a Sales and Reports key can get a 403 — that is expected, not a failure. And the data lags: a report starts filling 24–48 hours after the first request, and a day settles about two days later.

What you do with it

Close the rank-to-install gap

“Rank went up, installs did not” is only answerable with impressions next to positions.

See the rank side of it

Find out if it is even ASO

Search, browse and referrer traffic look identical in a download total and mean completely different things.

Read what counts as organic

Fix the page, not the rank

A healthy impression count with a weak page view rate is an icon and first-screenshot problem.

What this does not do

The one place we ask for a key

The store does not publish installs, so we do not invent them.

This is the only part of Storelift that needs a connection, and when it is missing the screen says so instead of estimating:

  • No modelled download numbers. A figure with a confidence band is still a guess, and here it would overwrite the only ground truth the product has.
  • No country breakdown for revenue. Revenue, downloads and subscription health arrive at account level; a country picker would promise a split that does not exist.
  • The lag is printed, not hidden. A report fills 24–48 hours after the first request and a day settles about two days later.
  • A 403 on the first request is expected. Opening a report type needs an Admin role; the screen explains it rather than showing an empty chart.

None of this is modelled. If your connection is missing or a report has not filled yet, the screen says so instead of showing an estimate — a download number with a confidence band is still a guess, and an estimate here would silently overwrite the one ground truth the product has. There is also no storefront breakdown for revenue, downloads and subscription health: those arrive at account level, and a country picker over them would promise a split that does not exist.

Pro is $20/month ($18 billed yearly), Studio $60/month ($54 billed yearly). These screens are hidden from the viewer role even on paid plans, because install and revenue numbers are not everyone's business.

Frequently asked

Do I have to connect App Store Connect to use Storelift?

No. Rank, rivals, demand, reviews and charts all work without any credentials. The funnel is the one part that needs your own connection, because the store does not publish install numbers.

Why did my report request return 403?

Because the first request for a report type needs an Admin role. After that the Sales and Reports key can download it. The screen tells you this rather than showing an empty chart.

How fresh is the funnel data?

A newly requested report starts filling in 24–48 hours, and a given day settles about two days later. That lag is Apple's, and the screen prints it next to the numbers.

Can I break revenue down by country?

No. Revenue, downloads and subscription health arrive at account level, so a country picker would promise a breakdown that does not exist in the data.
