Investigation steps
- Remove candidates that describe capabilities the app does not provide. Write the corresponding app task beside each remaining term; a high score cannot repair a mismatch in intent.
- Record current rank, observation date, demand evidence and the competing result set. Treat missing evidence as unknown rather than zero demand or easy competition.
- Assign each candidate to test now, investigate or revisit later. Note the proposed metadata field and the term it would replace; character space makes this a trade-off.
Worked interpretation
Illustrative case: two relevant terms have similar competition. One already ranks and has repeatable demand evidence; the other has no successful measurement. The first supports a concrete experiment, while the second needs research before a metadata decision.
Decision and next check
Keep a small actionable batch with an owner and a review date. Preserve rejected candidates with their reasons so the same unsuitable terms are not proposed repeatedly. Revisit the decision when product capabilities or store observations change.
