01How this list was made
- Six tools, not twelve. A tool is on this list only if we read its pricing page directly and ran a keyless test against its public surfaces. There are perhaps thirty ASO tools; a list of thirty prices nobody checked is worth less than a list of six that were.
- Prices are entry prices and real prices. On two of the six, the advertised tier does not track keyword rank. Both numbers are shown.
- No affiliate links. There is nothing to gain from the order of this list, so it is alphabetical after the price table.
- Every tool is described by what it is built for. Scope, price and limits, read from the vendor's own page — no verdicts.
02What each one costs before rank tracking switches on
| Tool | Advertised from | Where rank tracking starts | Free tier |
|---|---|---|---|
| Storelift | $0 | $0 | Permanent, rank tracking included |
| AppFollow | Free | Free | Yes — 500 keywords, 7-day history |
| Appfigures | $9.99/mo | $149.99/mo | Yes — no rank tracking |
| AppTweak | €79/mo | €79/mo | None — 7-day trial |
| Mobile Action | $15/mo | $69/mo | None |
| Sonar | $29/mo | $29/mo · $24.17 billed yearly | None — 7-day trial |
The pattern in that middle column is the finding, and it isn't a criticism of any one vendor: in this category the advertised price and the ASO price are different numbers. Analytics-first tools put rank tracking several tiers up because rank tracking is the expensive part to run.
03What each one is built for
AppFollow — reviews and reply workflows
Built around the review inbox: replies, tagging, routing to a support team, and integrations into Slack and Zendesk. Its free tier tracks 500 keywords with seven days of history; an ASO plan is $29/month and Essential, with the review automation, $179. It also runs a remote MCP server.
Appfigures — store analytics first
A store analytics and revenue-reporting product, with a per-app surcharge on top of every tier. Daily keyword ranks begin at $44.99 and the full ASO set at $149.99.
AppTweak — team-priced ASO platform
An ASO platform priced for teams: Essential is one seat at €79, with Campaign Manager, Reviews, Market Intelligence, the API and AI Visibility each sold separately on top.
Mobile Action — five product lines
Five product lines in one login, centred on Apple Ads management. The ASO tier is $69 and three of its modules are priced on request.
Sonar — ten apps, 2,500 keywords
$29/month, or $24.17 billed yearly, for ten apps and 2,500 keywords, with an API and an MCP server on the entry plan. There is no free tier — the trial is seven days.
Storelift — measurement you can check
Ours. Daily rank on App Store and Google Play, the apps above you on each keyword, a demand signal read from store autocomplete rather than Apple's ad score, and, on Studio at $60, visibility inside Claude. Rival installs and revenue come one rival at a time, with the width of the estimate shown. The free tier tracks rank and has no end date.
04The one question that separates them
Not price, and not keyword limits. Where does the demand number come from?
Most tools derive search volume from Apple's advertising popularity score. In a four-day window from 29 September 2025 the number of US keywords scoring above the floor fell from 165,875 to 39,254 — a 77.4% drop — and the score only exists in the 91 countries where Apple Ads operates, against an App Store present in 175. Ask a competitor's public endpoint about a Turkish keyword today and it still answers popularity: 5 with popularity_source: apple: the floor.
That doesn't make those tools wrong to use. It means the volume column should be read as an ad-bidding index, not as a count of searches — and a number without a stated width is not more information than a band with one.
05Tools not on this list
App Radar, Asodesk, FoxData, AppVector, Sensor Tower, SplitMetrics and roughly a dozen smaller indie tools are absent for one reason: we have not read their pricing pages and tested them ourselves. When we research one properly, it gets added with a date on its numbers like every other row here.
06The wider ASO tools list, with prices
Since this list was first written we have read the pricing pages of fourteen more ASO tools, each on its own page with its read date. The six above remain the ones compared in full here; this is the wider list, each tool linked to the page where its limits and sources sit.

07Cheap ASO rank trackers: what the lowest prices buy
The lowest paid prices in this list come with a trade-off each, and the trade-off is written on the tool's own page:
- ASO Atlas — $9 a month, $100 a year: App Store only, no free plan and no trial (13 Sep 2026).
- Astro — $108 a year: a macOS app, App Store only (13 Sep 2026).
- FoxData — Starter $9.90: 3 apps, 90 keywords, 3 months of history; export from $59 (13 Sep 2026).
- Applyra — $9.99 a month, unlimited under a fair-use policy (13 Sep 2026).
- ASOon — $12 a month: App Store only (18 Sep 2026).
- Storelift — $0, then $20 a month for 5 apps and 250 keywords per app per storefront, App Store and Google Play, 6 months of history.
What a low price leaves out is usually one of three things: the second store, history depth, or the storefront. Check those three rows before the price row. How each is measured: how to choose an ASO tool.
Frequently asked
Which ASO tool is best for a solo developer?
It depends on the constraint. Sonar's $29 plan includes ten apps and 2,500 keywords. Storelift's free tier tracks rank and never expires. Mobile Action's campaign manager is free for Apple Ads. There is no single answer, which is why the table above shows the price where rank tracking actually starts rather than the price on the marketing page.
Is there a genuinely free ASO tool?
There are free tiers, but most of them exclude keyword rank tracking — the part people mean by ASO. AppFollow's free tier tracks 500 keywords with seven days of history, inside a product built for reviews; Appfigures' free tier has no rank tracking at all. Storelift's free tier tracks rank on one app, 25 keywords per storefront, two countries, 30 days of history, with no end date.
Why does this list not include Sensor Tower or data.ai?
Both are market-intelligence platforms priced in the tens of thousands per year and sold with a sales call rather than a public price. They answer a different question — what is happening across a market — and comparing them to a $20 rank tracker would mislead in both directions.
How often do these prices change?
Often enough that the reading date matters more than the number. Two of the six changed pricing structure in the twelve months before this page was written. Each row here was read from the vendor's own page (Mobile Action in August 2026, the others on 13 September 2026), linked in the sources below.
How much does an ASO tool cost?
From $0 to five figures a year. Free plans that track keyword rank exist (Storelift, AppFollow, Asodesk, ASOMobile, AppVector, ASOon, ASOHawk). The first paid plan of an indie-sized tool sits between $9 and $59 a month — ASO Atlas $9, Applyra $9.99, FoxData $9.90, ASOon $12, Storelift Pro $20, Sonar $29, Asodesk and ASOMobile $59. Team platforms run higher: AppTweak €79 to €499 a month, AppFollow's review plans $179 to $599, Appfigures' full ASO set $149.99. Sensor Tower publishes no price; Vendr's tracked median is $74,415 a year. Each figure carries its read date on the tool's own page.
What is the cheapest ASO tracker?
Among paid plans we have read, ASO Atlas at $9 a month (App Store only) and Astro at $108 a year (a Mac app, App Store only) are the lowest; FoxData starts at $9.90 and Applyra at $9.99. Free plans that track rank also exist — Storelift's covers 25 keywords in each of 2 storefronts on both stores.
What does an ASO tool do?
It measures where an app ranks for a keyword in App Store or Google Play search, which apps rank above it, and how much demand a term has. Many add review management, ad management or market estimates on top. Background: what is ASO.
