# Track changes in the apps competing for your keywords URL: https://storelift.net/guide/search-competitor-turnover/ Language: en Updated: 2026-10-02 Your commercial competitors and your search competitors are overlapping sets, not necessarily identical ones. Search competition is observed term by term. Tracking which apps enter and leave the results helps identify whether a rank change reflects a broader change in that search landscape. ## Investigation steps 1. Choose a relevant term and retain the ordered results for matching country and platform observations. Match apps by identifier so a renamed title does not become a false new entrant. 2. Separate entrants, exits and position changes among apps present in both observations. An app absent from the measured set has not necessarily left the store. 3. Read the product purpose of new entrants and any visible listing changes. Record these as investigation clues, not proof of how the ranking system made its decision. ## Worked interpretation Illustrative case: your rank falls two places while two new apps enter above you and the previous rivals keep their relative order. The next useful question concerns those entrants, rather than immediately rewriting every tracked keyword. ## Decision and next check Keep a shortlist of rivals that repeatedly appear on the terms that matter to your app. Use it for listing and positioning research. Do not copy another app's protected name into metadata or assume that copying its text will reproduce its ranking. ## Related Storelift feature Read App Store competitor analysis for the available product data and its scope.
