Volatility compares two daily readings. These charts were first read here on 2026-09-14; the first index appears after the next daily reading.

## How the index is calculated

Each list gets an index from 0 to 100, built from three measurements against the previous daily reading of the same list: the share of its top 10 places now held by a different app (40%), the share of the list that was not in it the day before (30%), and the average rank change of apps present on both days, capped at 10 places (30%).

A category's index is the average of its top free, top paid and top grossing lists. The only input is Apple's public chart feed; a chart position is not a search rank.
